Advancing Goodwill Since 1905Since Rotary’s inception, we have dedicated our lives to providing friendly service through a professional club. In the early growth of the organization, the goals expanded to include service to communities-in-need, exemplifying the Rotary motto, Service Above Self. All that we do revolves around a strict code of ethics. The Four-Way Test, developed by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor in 1932 and adopted by Rotary in 1943, demonstrates our ethical code and implores all Rotarians to examine their professional and personal actions: Of the things we think, say or do:
These four questions, our code of ethics, have led Rotary to conquer many local, national and international struggles: from famines to tsunamis and epidemics to poverty. The Rotary Foundation, a not-for-profit corporation supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation, supports the goodwill of Rotarians, works to continually fight polio and resource disaster relief to communities-in-need worldwide. Locally, Rotarians offer assistance to their community by providing community service and offering Leadership Courses. We are proud of our community-oriented assistance at the Midlothian Rotary, including our efforts in a small Mississippi city after Hurricane Katrina nearly wiped out the whole town. |
