Student of the Year Banquet set for April 30, 2009

Chesterfield County Public Schools honors two students from every school each year for demonstrating citizenship and the school division’s core values of respect, responsibility, honesty and accountability. During the April, 2009 banquet, sponsored by the Midlothian Rotary Club, 124 students will be recognized as Students of the Year for the 2008-2009 school year.

This year’s event will be held April 30th, at the Holiday Inn Select-Koger Center South.

Schools use different approaches to selecting Students of the Year, and honorees reflect the diversity of the 59,000+ students in Chesterfield schools. Many Students of the Year excel academically, some are talented artists and athletes, some have disabilities and some are growing up in challenging environments, but none of those circumstances are why they are selected as Students of the Year. The students are recognized by the Rotary Club, but also receive an award from the school system as well. The event is broadcast on Chesterfield County Comcast cable.
