2013 Annual Installation Banquet
The Midlothian Rotary Club recently held its 31st Annual Installation and Awards Banquet. Robbin Kolbe, president, presided over the ceremony. President Kolbe reported that the club had a number of large events for the 2013 – 2013 year. The club’s two major fundraisers, the Magnificent Midlothian Rotary Food Festival and the Rotary Nutzy Funn Runn were very successful in raising money, which allowed the club to donate to numerous children’s’ charity organizations. The club’s 13th Annual Midlothian Rotary/Chesterfield County Schools Student of the Year Banquet, which gives recognition to outstanding students in Chesterfield County Schools was also very successful. Additional contributions our club made in our community include the Dictionary Project, sponsored a young teacher from Richmond to travel to Brazil as a member of the Rotary District 7600 GSE team; sponsored uniforms for a local Special Olympics’ team; sent funds to support the Sandy Hook victims; supported a Habitat for Humanity project; and donated to tutoring projects in our local school district. President Kolbe commended Chris Rains, Bob Roop, Richard McCullough, Bob Stallworth, Jim Riley, and Wayne Woodcock for their exemplary service. Outstanding Service recognition was given to Brad Bailey, Ernie Bolling, Ed Burtner, Joe Crockett, Chris Winslow, Scott Williams, Allen Worley, and Tom Yeager.
Special presentations were made to Jim Riley, who received the prestigious E-Bulletin Pulitzer Prize award,
Maureen Patterson –Rotarian of the Year award, Beth Fitzwater—The Young Rotarian award, and Jimmy Hyman – Service above Self award.
